Can You Take a Vape on a Plane?

Sky Vapes

Can you take a vape on a plane is an airline and airport question, and the answer can change. Before you travel, read the airline’s battery page and the departure airport’s liquids rules. This page is a packing checklist, not a permit.

Airlines generally want the device and any spare lithium batteries in the cabin bag, not in the hold. Batteries in checked luggage are the item they refuse. Switch the device off, and do not charge it or vape it on the aircraft unless the crew has said you can, which they normally will not.

Pack the liquid separately

Buy what you need before the trip from nic salts and pod kits, in sizes you can actually carry. Do not assume a shop airside will have the same pod.

  • E-liquid in the cabin usually has to follow that airport’s liquid allowance. A 10ml nic salt is a small bottle. A 100ml shortfill may not be allowed in the cabin.
  • Put bottles in a sealed bag so a leak does not soak the kit.
  • Pods with liquid in them can leak under pressure. Empty a refillable pod, or pack it upright in a small bag.
  • If you are changing countries, check that country’s vape rules before you fly. Some countries restrict nicotine liquid or devices.

18+ only. You must be 18 or over to buy vaping products in the UK. Nicotine is highly addictive. This is a shopping guide for adults who already vape.
